1965 Fender Jazz Bass Serial Number 114028. Built in Fender's Fullerton CA plant in October with a neck heel date stamp of '07 Oct 65A'
Many of the parts: body, neck, cloth wiring ...were from stock made by Fender before the CBS sale... Serial numbers and Date Stamps were applied only when the instrument was assembled, NOT when the parts were manufactured...
Shipping to the dealer in late 1965. It is a ONE owner instrument...
This is one of the nicest J-Basses you will ever have the privilege of playing... The feel of the neck/Rosewood fingerboard, weight and comfort of the body, The color... Lake Placid Blue ...and the tone of the pickups... Typical remarks by recording producers and engineers... No EQ or compression required... Perfect tone live-off-the-floor...
Speaking of the body, the Lake Placid Blue color, over the years, has weathered to a greenish hue... Except under the pickguard where the sun never shines... As well, she has a selection of marks starting with Belt Buckle Rash and a variety of other dings, mostly caused by collisions with drum cymbals and guitars on the compact stages we usually played... Tight quarters!!!
About the Neck:
The frets were recently re-crowned, dressed and polished (AFTER the photo shoot) immediately put into storage. Playing hours = ZERO (0).
The Rosewood SLAB fingerboard is in excellent condition and is VERY collectable. The hard maple neck is well worn as you would expect in a well played instrument...
About the Strings:
Fresh 'zero time' D'Addario Pro Steels EPS165
.045-.105 Regular Light Top Medium Bottom...
About the Tuners:
Original Fender Machine Heads... Nice, very smooth and shiny with no slippage.
About the Case:
The case is also original Fender... Black with orange interior... In decent condition condidering it's age...
Original Instruction Manual:
Included is the the original 'Fender Jazz Bass Instruction Booklet'. It is in very good shape.
Operation:
Everything works as designed: All controls function smoothly with no 'scratchiness' or 'crackling'...
